Sheffield Accommodation

I am going to study a master degree in University of Sheffield and I am really confuse in choosing my accommodation. I have seen the price of the University’s accommodation but seems so expensive, in contrast the private student accommodations such as Hannah Court and Cosmos are quite cheap, and with good facilities. But would there be concern that I can’t easy to have friends in private accommodation? Is there any accommodations that is recommended?

Hi! I am also coming for the September intake, and honestly, all the information online is overwhelming. I came across accommodation at Hollis Croft it looks promising, but its hard to know the reality. It would be really helpful to get some clarity or an honest review from someone!
Current or graduated students please help 🥲

Hello! I'm delighted you're starting your master's at the University of Sheffield. I understand your confusion about accommodation. In fact, private student residences like Hannah Court and Cosmos won't stop you from making friends. They often have great social facilities and activities that actually help you meet people. If you're looking for more affordable student accommodation options nearby, I recommend checking out the uhomes platform. They have lots of cost-effective options, and their consultants are very helpful in finding a place that suits your needs.

hey im a current student and i would recommend choosing the private cheaper accommodation and invest time into making friends through societies and other methods like social media. sheffield is a really wholesome city and everyone is so friendly so i dont think youll have an issue meeting friends but sticking to a tight budget can be hard. as a student i would always go for the cheaper and then invest that extra cash in going out meeting new people and trying new things

Hey Adosobi, 👋

It's great to hear you're coming to the University of Sheffield for your Master's, what subject are you going to be studying?

It can be a bit confusing looking at all the different accommodation options as there are three different areas of student accommodation. In my undergraduate, I stayed in Endcliffe accommodation which I loved. It was a great location, only 20 minute walk to campus and 5 minutes to the botanical gardens! 🌷🌵🌿

There is also on offer on that people who stay in university accommodation for another year can get up to £250 worth in rewards, whether this be a fitness membership, money for food and drink, or £200 cashback! 💵

I know a lot of people found their friendship groups through their student accommodation so that is another plus side to university accommodation. 🏡

However, I found that I made most of my friends on my course or through societies! So really, it's completely down to what works best for you! Whether that be location, budget, or meeting people. 😊

I will say one of the great things about the University of Sheffield is there are so many ways to meet new people, such as through the Students Union club nights, or in one of over 300 student societies or over 50 sports groups. 🙊

Plus, everyone here is so friendly and welcoming (that's another reason I stayed here for my undergraduate, master's and now PhD). 😆

Let me know if you have any other questions about studying at Sheffield! You can either reply to this thread or send me your questions directly via this link! 😀

Best wishes,
