From Biomedicine to Philosophy

Hi,
I am currently a first year student in biomedical science and now I have realised that biomes is not something I actually enjoy, sure I like to learn about different things and it is good as a career choice but I have realised that I do not have passion for it and I am mainly doing it for the security and benefit of my future.
I have decided that philosophy/literature is actually something I do enjoy and have a passion of learning about. My plan is to finish my biomed degree and do a masters in philosophy. I have sent a few emails to various universities and they have mentioned that I am more than welcomed to apply however I will be based heavily on my personal statement and sample of writing (I have no clue what that is 🥲) and that I should also take some extra courses (not necessarily degrees) to show my interest in this field.
I am asking for help from any MSc Philo students or anyone who may have similar experiences.

Thank you for reading <3

Your sample of writing would be a piece of philosophical writing - for most people this will be an undergraduate essay. You mention Philosophy and literature which academically are quite different fields. It's not impossible, but not super easy, to write a decent essay in analytic Philosophy without studying it. It's hard to do via reading alone. You could look at universities such as St Andrew's which have graduate conversion diplomas in Philosophy for students without prior Philosophy experience, which can lead on to a Masters afterwards. Or, if you wanted to take some undergraduate modules, Birkbeck, University of the Highlands and Islands, and the Institute of Continuing Studies at Cambridge all have undergrad modules you can take online. All of it costs money of course. What aspects of Philosophy interest you?

Thank you for this!!
I will definitely look into the options you have said.
I am interested in many aspects of philosophy, some of my biggest attractions are ethics, nihilism and epistemology.
I have emailed university of Edinburgh and they have recommended to do philosophy summer courses - which I am planning onto after this April (since ai am finish first year of biomed and I can focus on philosophy)
Apologies for when I said
