Confusedd

I’m thinking of doing an undergrad for psychology and counselling in Strathclyde, and I’m just kinda confused, what does it mean by 1st sitting and 2nd sitting on the entry requirement. Because I’m in 5th year and I’ve only done 3 highers but by 6th year I will have done 6 highers (hopefully).

First sitting usually means first try/attempt.
Second sitting means second try/attempt.

So if student A for example sits their A-level exams for the first time in 2022 then that would be their first sitting.

If student A then decides to resit those A-level exams again (same subjects) in say 2023, then that would be their second sitting.

Hello @Ely an air 🙂 For our Scottish applicants, normally 1st sitting is the first time you sit highers, and 2nd sitting is the second. Usually this is S5 and S6.

If you don't meet the first sitting requirements by the end of S5, we'd be considering making an offer for the second sitting requirements in total. The standard second sitting requirements for the BSc Psychology are AAAAB at higher (with English and another social science required, as well as a Nat 5 Maths qualification). The requirements may vary if you're eligible for an adjusted offer under our Widening Access policy. You can find out if you're eligible for this here. 🙂

Hope this helps but let me know if you've other questions!
