Congratulations to you all and best of luck in your future applications guys there is still time! I’m 25 and attempting to do a second degree and I saw even more mature students who are starting in September too so don’t give up and follow your dreams

Hi @Student1499,

Congratulations on your offer to study BVMS Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (with Foundation Year)! 🎉

This is such an exciting time as you plan your future as a student here at the University of Central Lancashire. What a lovely message you've left above too! We have lots of mature students here on campus showing it's absolutely never too late to follow your dreams.

Wishing you all the best and let me know if you have any questions at all 😊

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice! I originally applied for Psychology for 2025 entry (applied early due to Oxbridge) but have now realised it’s not the right choice for me. I’ve always wanted to do Veterinary Medicine but made a last-minute switch, and I’m now certain that I want to go back to it.
I take Biology, Psychology, and English, along with an EPQ, and I’m predicted A*s in all of them. I really like the course at UCLan and was wondering about the likelihood of getting in through Clearing (depending on spaces) or if I’d be better off reapplying next year.
Any advice would be massively appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi @ems-11,

Thank you for your message and patience. I apologise for the late response! It's great to hear that you like our veterinary medicine course and I'm sorry to hear that you are no longer interested in Psychology. Deciding what to study is a big decision so you want to make the right one!

Unfortunately, for the Veterinary Medicine course, there are no spaces for September 2025 and it will not be in clearing. Applications must be made by the October UCAS deadline for UK applicants. So I would recommend applying for September 2026.

Did you know we have an Open Day on Sunday 17 August? Our August Open Day is your last chance to speak to our tutors before the October UCAS deadline. This applies to Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) too.

Our August Open Day is an enhanced event for veterinary courses.
You'll get everything a normal Open Day offers, plus a range of dedicated sessions to give you all you need to know about studying in our School of Veterinary Medicine.

What to expect:
Informative talks
Tour of our brand new School of Veterinary Medicine
Meet staff from our partner veterinary practices
Interactive drop-in sessions and more...

To find out more or book onto the open day visit: Undergraduate Open Day at Preston Campus - Aug 2025

Let me know if you have any further questions 🙂

Many thanks, ^Zac
