Bath uni 2025

Hey everyone. I’m looking into accommodation at Bath Uni for next year and wanted to get some opinions.
What’s the best accommodation in terms of price, location, and vibes?
How much does accommodation generally cost?
What’s the best thing about studying at Bath Uni?

Also, is anyone else starting in 2025? Especially after a gap year?

Hello!

Fantastic to hear you're interested in coming here 🙂 I am a former student here as well as current staff so I'll give your questions a go! :

Which accommodation you choose is down to personal preferences (all options and pricings here!) - I would personally recommend Norwood House for a variety of reasons. Firstly, its the most budget-friendly option where you get your own room rather than sharing. Secondly, its in the centre of campus next to the SU; and thirdly people on certain floors get free/discounted SU night tickets to compensate them for the potential noise they may get from being so close. I lived in Westwood Derhill which was also a budget-friendly option and because of its size of 18 to a flat, it was very lively, sociable, and in quite a quiet part of campus. If you wanted eat and drink credit included then Brendon Court is in a beautiful location and is by far the best value of the eat and drink credit ones. I would personally avoid Polden (not Polden Court), and the Quads. Polden is very posh but also very expensive and in an inconvenient location, and the Quads rooms are very small which I found claustrophobic and distracting.

Costs vary a lot depending on if you share/have your own room, where you are and if your place comes with eat and drink credit (where a set amount gets added to your library card for you to spend in the cafes and eateries). The cheapest are Woodland Court shared at around £4,500 for 38 weeks, and the most expensive are Green Park House studios at around £11,300 for the 38 weeks (at the time of writing!). The average is around £7,000 - £8,000 depending on your preferences. Ensuites tend to obviously be more expensive but I personally had no problem sharing a shower and loo - its closer to real life!

The best thing about studying at Bath for me was the chance to do a placement. Bath has one of the best-supported placement schemes in the country and not only was it a fun thing to do which gave me a break from studying for a year, it added its weight in gold to my graduate CV and helped me build up more experience for employment later.

I hope some of this helps, but please shout if you have any more questions. Wishing you luck for the rest of the year!

Bath is one of the most expensive places to live in the UK - rents are about the same as London, and you don't SF London weighting.

I’m final year at Bath. I also took a gap year, about half of my house had taken a gap year but it was just post-Covid. Assuming it still works the same, and you have deferred spot, you get priority when it comes to accommodation allocations. I found mine out very early on. I was in Eastwood plus which I think is now Eastwood terrace? And honestly it was the best choice for me. 13 people which sounds like a lot but in meant it was very sociable and fun which is just what you want in first year (for me anyway). It was one of the cheaper options, not en-suite ( it’s very unlikely you’re going to get a en-suite after you move out of uni accommodation anyway), and the walls aren’t bright green like they are in quads.

i'm first year in marlborough court rn. i think marlborough is pretty good sizes (7 people per flat), which is a good number that you're good friends with everyone but there's people you can avoid at the same time. i wouldn't really bother about location (on campus) as everything is a 10 min max walk from anywhere and people tend to walk around anywhere to socialise with other flats, etc. marlborough is quite expensive compared to other accoms so if that's a top priority, go with another option. if you want to be closer to the nightlife, shops, socials, etc, choose city accom. remember that you have 7 options on your list but you aren't guaranteed to get any of them so keep an open mind. best thing about studying at bath is the nature!! it's stunning and there are so many little walks and areas to explore

Hi Kyung,

Great to hear you're planning on firming us, and great course choice!

When I was first year I lived in Westwood, which was quite affordable. 18 people in a vertical flat which sounds like a lot, but it was great because you'd always be running into people and it was quite a nice social atmosphere. I think Eastwood Terrace or Eastwood Green are also good affordable options. However, the one I'd recommend the highest is Norwood House. This is directly above the SU in the centre of campus. Its lively, sociable, and the first couple of floors get free/discounted SU night tickets because of the potential noise! This is the cheapest on-campus accommodation if price is a priority and is good value for money 🙂

Any questions just shout!
