Transferring uni

I want to transfer from my uni to another one which I think is fine. On UCAS do you have to write up a new personal statement?? And does it have to be 4000 words (I'd start 2025 sep)

Hi @Jfagura,

If you feel your current course isn’t quite the right fit, it’s definitely possible to transfer; either to a new course at your current university or to a completely different university or college.

The process can vary, so we would recommend checking with the university you’re hoping to move to.

You might be able to transfer the credits you’ve already earned, but if your new course is quite different, you may need to start from the beginning.

When applying through UCAS, you’ll need to submit a new personal statement. Please don’t worry, it’s not 4,000 words! It's a word limit of around 550–1000 words with spaces, which is the same as when you initially applied.

For more information, you may wish to visit the UCAS guide on changing or leaving your course which has lots of useful information to help guide you through the process.

Best of luck with your application. Please let us know below what course and university you’re thinking of studying at. We’d love to hear from you ☺️

Best wishes,

First, phone each of your intended ni choices and ask if they will accept your application - many courses are already closed.

If they will accept your application, yes, you do have to apply through UCAS and yes you have to provide a full PS and a reference from your current Uni. And yes, you do have to declare that you are currently at another Uni.
