law at warwick or gap year

i have an offer from warwick but i’m still stuck on whether to take a gap year to try for oxford/lse/ucl and have another chance to try and get into the “more prestigious” ones. i know warwick is amazing, but im confused if it’s worth trying again. any advice?

Did you apply to Oxford, LSE and/or UCL this year? What happened? Why is that same thing not just as likely to happen next year too? Or does "gap year" really mean "resit year" whilst you try to improve your grades?

Surely only you can decide if the the opportunity to potentially attend Oxford, LSE or UCL is worth it. Warwick is clearly an excellent uni. What value to you ascribe to the "prestige" of those other unis?

i applied to cambridge and lse and durham as lnat unis this year, but due to not doing very well on my lnat i’ve gotten rejected. taking a gap year means i’d have another chance at getting a better lnat score to apply for the competitive london unis. in terms of ranking, ucl/lse rank higher than warwick, and their international relations are better, and considering the fact i want to pursue a career in international law i wonder if it would put me in a better position to go there after taking a gap year to reapply and do the lnat again.

The LNAT is only one factor in the admission decisions of the universities you mention. Rankings have no relevance to individual career success. The quality of your education and your personal aptitude are what matter. Warwick is a good place to study.

Warwick is a very good law school.

Even if Cambridge, LSE and Durham are "better" than Warwick, it doesn't worth the gap year.

LNAT is highly unpredictable. Every year about half of the very calibre students get below 50% score. LNAT scores might not be a true reflection of how hard or well you prepared.

Even if you score high, there are numerous posts in studentroom about uni rejections of 30s LNAT.

My advice is not to give up Warwick for the unforeseeable - a bird in hand is better than a flock in the woods.
