How do i get opportunities in law

Hi, I am in year 12, and I am really interested in Woking in a legal career, and I wanted to show that passion, however I don't know what I can do in terms of showing my interest further then just books and articles or news, like I want to gain experience, but I can't find anything that is running at the moment as most opportunities seem occupied. What could I do?

Many high street solicitors firms around me do work experience for people at your stage! I'd say there's no harm in sending an email asking whether they offer such an initiative; it's much more likely than the larger firms who have their hands tied with university students. Also always open to walk into court and see if there's anything you'd be able to sit in and watch?

Defiantly network for example become and ambassador for different firms, go to virtual open days and stuff like that just make sure they know your name

Several London law firms offer virtual work experience/training and you get a certificate too.
Google it...Watson Farley, Slaughter & May are 2 I know of. Something you can do in the school holidays.

Just seen Weightmans do an initiative primarily targeted at your age group - https://www.weightmans.com/careers/early-careers/legal-insights-programme/

Hey there!

It’s great that you’re thinking ahead and looking to show your passion for law. Even if most formal opportunities feel taken, there’s still lots you can do. Try virtual work experience with firms like Kennedys or White & Case they’re free, flexible, and look great on your CV. You can also attend law firm open days or insight events (keep an eye on their websites and LinkedIn), and get involved in things like debate clubs, public speaking, or writing about legal topics. Reaching out to local firms for shadowing or just a chat can also go a long way don’t be afraid to send a polite email showing your interest. You’re already doing the right thing by being proactive keep it up!
