Bsc or Ba?

Is there much difference between these for business based subjects? I didn’t realised one of my applications is for a Bsc in international business and I don’t like the maths part of business so was that a bad idea 😂

Hi,

Emily here from Essex Business School, University of Essex.

the primary undergraduate business degree offered is the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Management. This program emphasises a comprehensive understanding of how organisations operate, develop strategies, and adapt in a complex world.

Key Features of the BSc Business Management at Essex:
Analytical and Technical Focus: The curriculum includes modules on management, innovation, new technologies, operations, and supply chain management, reflecting a strong emphasis on analytical and technical aspects of business.
Quantitative Skills Development: Students engage with courses in finance, accounting, and business analytics, enhancing their quantitative decision-making abilities. So this does mean there will be a little maths, but nothing too scary! It's all going to be applied, so for example looking at profit and loss statements, understanding key accounting calculations. All things that are super important in the world of business.
Ethical and Responsible Management: The program integrates studies on ethical business management, aligning with the school's commitment to responsible management practices.

Hope this helps, shout if you need anymore guidance! 🙂
Hello there!

When choosing between a BSc (Bachelor of Science) and a BA (Bachelor of Arts) in Business, the main difference is in the focus of the course. A BSc in International Business usually includes a bit more data analysis, finance, and economics, while a BA tends to focus more on the strategic, management, and communication aspects of business.

Since you’re not a big fan of maths, don’t worry! Most BSc business degrees don’t require advanced maths, but they may have some basic statistics, finance, or data analysis.
It’s always a good idea to check the course modules to see how much maths is actually involved. If it’s just a few topics here and there, you’ll likely be fine!

At Coventry University, for example, the BA Business Management focuses more on global trade, strategy, and leadership, which could be a great option if you prefer business without a strong maths emphasis.

I'm studying BSc International Business Management at Coventry University, and I have to say that it did not involve too much math, at all. I'm sure you will be just fine!

Either way, both degrees can lead to amazing career opportunities, so it’s all about what suits your interests best! 😊

I hope this helps!
Good luck!

Unless they’re for similar courses at the same uni, the differentiation between a BSc and a BA is meaningless, it’s literally just the degree title. You need to look at the contents of the courses.
