Semi Colons are for the gramatically complete, so shut up.
I think it was more of an ironic comment, more than an insult...

I invite other would-be associates to likewise publicise their exploits in the 'witty' vein.

You surely can't be encouraging people to blow their own trumpets?

Not as such, no: rather, they should present me with a 'trumpet' that I might 'blow' it; pending my own discretion as to the warranty of any such proposed 'fanfare', obviously.

(Ego-masturbation by proxy, if you will; that is, subject to existing law regarding 'consent' on such matters.)

PS - A tasteless joke, I know, at least people won't be burning down embassies over it.

The internet and digital radio render the TV redundant in my eyes.
The mighty book rendered the television redundant before it was created.

The human brain and mouth (well, larynx) easily beat any artificial entertainments. Wit trumps all. And no, I'm not saying that to suck up to the thread.

So a definition of entertainment is of an intelligent person rambling on about the agricultural economy? Also, most artificial entertainments (i.e T.V) are manufactured by humans brains, hence meaning that it was designed to entertain, not to preach the words of the wit.

the phrase contradiction in terms springs to mind when one hears "economist" and "quite good...quotes"....

surely the us president who said "get me a one armed economist so i wont have to hear "on the other hand"... had his finger on the (red?!) button

Which president was he referring to?

I know that Roosevelt was actually wheelchair-bound, so he's have had no choice (though amazingly the public at that time did not know he was wheelchair bound, either that's good PR, or people then were pretty dumb.)

Per se, I'd dare say; concomitant with 'obfuscatory' and 'ineffectual'.
