I need help on how to revise (Y11, GCSEs in May-June this year)

I have no idea how to get into the routine of revising or how to actually revise for most subjects.
Am I starting to revise really late?
----------------------------------------------------------------
My latest mock results from November 2024 are:
Computer Science -- Grade 8
Maths ------------------ Grade 7
Combined Science - Grade 7
History ----------------- Grade 7
Food -------------------- Grade 6
English Lang ---------- Grade 5
French ------------------ Grade 4
----------------------------------------------------------------
All of my friends are revising but I don't know where to find the motivation or how to revise for subjects such as Maths, Food, English and French
And even for computer science, combined science, and history I still just treat it as learning the same things over and over and I wonder if there are any better methods for revising.
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Hi! I would say that the best way to revise (for anyone) is to test yourself as you actively engage your brain during revision. Ways of doing this would be via flashcards, past papers, exam questions, or blurting. If you don't know what blurting is I'd be happy to explain 🙂! I cannot stress how useful past papers are as a tool for revision. Before doing past papers, I'd recommend doing some specific topic based questions, from sites like PMT. In a few weeks I'd recommend starting to do past papers, if not now. Don't worry if you don't feel ready to do a paper yet, start by doing a paper with a textbook or your notes and do it untimed, then check a mark scheme. As you get better, which you will, you will rely less on the textbook. All the best!

I'm y11 too, personally my main revision methods are blurting using textbooks/ specifications (basically writing out all you can remember about a topic and then filling in gaps) and past papers. In terms of motivation, I would really recommend the 10 minute method - set a timer for 10 minutes and revise something; if you hate it after 10 minutes and just want to give up you can, but often it's just hard to get started and once you've started you don't really want to stop. Lastly I started revising properly around mid Feb and I don't think it's ever too late to start

as for maths, it’s all past paper revision to revise, if you’ve done a lot ask chatgpt to make some, you can fine topic tests on google for topic specific questions, but you’ve already got a 7 which is enough to do at a level of you want too anyways. French? I’d say try your hardest for the reading and speaking since they are th easiest imo. You can watch shows with French subtitles or change the language to french with english subtitles, you can also change some apps on your phone to French. The writing is probably the hardest but if you do good in those 3 no matter what you get in the writing the other papers will balance it out
