EPQ help!

Hi
Is an EPQ advantageous and acts as a bonus for RG unis? Apparently some unis will lower offer grade for those who achieved excellent grades in their EPQ. Is that the case for Oxbridge ? Additionally people who have studied at RG unis did you find an EPQ beneficial?

Thanks!

Hi, I received offers from both University of York and Sheffield back in 2022, and I'm studying at Lancaster University (not RG) at the moment. All three of them reduced my offer by a grade/more:York (AAB -> ABB), Sheffield (AAB ->ABB), Lancaster (AAB -> BBC). My grades were reduced because I got an A in my EPQ and also because I was from a POLAR4 quantile 1 postcode.

Hi @Carmen_rouge,
Taking an EPQ can be an advantage when applying to university as some universities may offer a lower offer for doing an EPQ. Further, studying an EPQ can be useful to prepare for the independent study element of university.
For instance, Lancaster's guidance is that for some courses, they may make a lower offer in recognition of an EPQ, which would be an offer at one grade lower plus grade B in the EPQ.
I would recommend checking the guidance at universities you think you might be intrested in to help with your decision making, as this will depend on the university and the course.
Hope this helps!

It varies by unis. If you know what subject you might be interested in at uni, check the course page and look at the Entry requirements section in detail.
