Not in year 9 but asking for a friend as I don't know anyone doing DT, would you recommend it? How bad is the coursework? Thanks in advance.

i dont do igcse i do aqa but im assuming its roughly the same thing
DONT TAKE IT UNLESS YOURE A CREATIVE PERSON. SERIOUSLY ITS TORTURE. like im not stupid right, im getting easy mainly 9s and like one 8 in the rest of my subjects, but DT? im currently getting a 3 and i have 4 weeks left to finish my coursework.
genuinely its the worst decision ive ever made, its so time consuming and the teachers arent normally very good (this seems to be a general dt teacher thing and not just in my school), and even if they say 'oh no you dont have to be good at drawing or very creative' i can clearly see with all the grades laid out that its all the girls who take art who are getting highest grades. if thats you, if you enjoy drawing, if you enjoy coming up with ideas and all that then great, it might be a good subject for you. if you arent that sort of person then i beg of you dont ruin urself by taking it

I took it because I thought it would be fun to just be in the workshop not always in the classroom and making stuff, and honestly it was until the actual gcse course started and then I've barely had time to be in the workshop at all

so yeah, I'd put some serious serious thought into whether you take it or not, it isn't as easy and carefree as it seems
