Nursing at Salford uni

Hi. I’m a first year adult nursing student at Salford uni. I failed an assignment and there’s a chance to resubmit in May. I am worried I will fail again, plus I will be capped at 40%.
Does anyone know if I will have to retake the year if I fail again?

Have you discussed this issue with your university regarding the possibility of resitting first year if you failed your resit assignment.....

You should talk to your university course leader about this one as they will give you the answers about resitting first year as it depends on what the university policies are for this as each individual university has their own policies regarding students either being told to withdraw from the course or having another opportunity of redoing their first year of nursing.

Okay thank you for the reply. I would retake if I could, except this is my second attempt at uni. I only have 2 years of SFE funding remaining. I have emailed both the programme leader and module leader.

No worries ☺️ ☺️ about the response to you.

Some universities allow the students to have a retake, some allow two retakes so it really depends on your university policies regarding how many retakes you are allowed to do.

Your university may have a one retake policy in which you have already used say so it is possible that they might ask you to withdraw from the course but don't give up yet until you see what they say about it okay.

I would suggest that you make sure you pass your resit assessments in May if you get the opportunity okay and then look forward to completing your nursing degree.

Hello there,

Firstly sorry that we have not been able to reply sooner to this query.

The best people to speak to about this would be one of your tutors or your school office. As it is Nursing that would be our Health School. If you give them a call or email they would be able to best advise on resist or retaking a year all together.

You can call them on 0161 295 5338 to have a chat. Remember to have your student ID number to hand so they know and can confirm who they are speaking to.

I hope this helps,
Matt ~ Uni of Salford Rep

I am a first year for adult nursing also at Salford uni, I am in the same situation I have failed an assignment and I am TERRIFIED of failing the whole year due to this, I found this thread and am going to take on the advice of speaking to personal tutors etc but just for moral support, hang in there this is my 4th time attending university due to course changes and failing A LOT as I lost the passion for what I was studying so if you are passionate about nursing you will smash of your resub and find a way, good luck I wish you the best!
