It's absolutely not weird, and many people do it in order to fully embed themselves in university life. It's obviously more expensive to stay in university accommodation, rather than living at home, but if that's not an issue then there's no reason not to do it.

Not really no it’s pretty common.

Hi Mutlubuse,
Hope you're doing great.

It’s definitely not weird at all! It’s pretty common for students to live in university halls, especially for their first year, even if they’re not attending their hometown university. Many students decide to live in halls as it’s a great way to meet new people, get settled into university life, and experience something new. Plus, it can be more convenient and easier to adjust to life at university when you have that built-in community.
Living in halls at The University of Manchester (UoM) could also give you a sense of independence and a fresh perspective on your university experience, even though you’re from Manchester. It’s also really common for students to live in halls outside of their hometown, especially for those who are looking for that “fresh start” and want a bit more space from home during their university years.
Since you’ve already applied, I’m sure you’re on the right track to making a great decision for yourself! You’ll be surrounded by lots of other students in a similar situation, and the experience will help you grow in different ways. If you’re concerned about commuting or feeling like it’s too close to home, you might want to think about how much space you’ll get for your personal growth, and whether living in halls would offer you that balance.
