SFE funding for 6 years

Hi, I just wanted to clarify something about funding.

I’m currently in first year of university, but I hate my course and will be dropping out. I’ve applied to another university for a different course, but because of my A Level grades, the new course is a foundation year + a 4 years integrated masters after successfully completing the foundation year.

Because I’ve already taken funding for this current year, will I be able to get funding for the next 5 years of study or not?

Hi there,

Yes, that's right - you've used your additional year of funding. So, this means you'll still receive funding for the duration of your new course, even if it's 5 years.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi there, thank you for confirming this!

Does it make a difference to funding if I am transferring from the first official year of the course to a foundation year?

No - as long as you've only studied 1 year or less then it won't affect your funding for the new course. Regardless of how many years the new course is. Thanks, Jason
