studying for national 5 chemistry

hi guys, could someone give me some advice? I'm an S4 student whose taking national 5 chemistry. The only problem is I'm terrible at chemistry but I don't want a bad mark and ideally need an A or a B. How do I revise effectively for this class? My teacher is a nice guy but is seriously terrible at actually teaching and when he does actually teach nothing stays in my head. What do I need to do?

Good afternoon, I’m was a gcse/alevel chemistry teacher in England. The content and skills are transferable so I would suggest the following and go from there :

1.

Make a list of the content and rate them red/amber/green based on competency.

2.

Focus on splitting the 3 tables Into 3 different study styles. I recommend to my tutees that you focus on actually learning the content for all things red; Amber is your hybrid where you want to be attempting questions from revision guides along with reading up on content and Green topics, you want to be focusing solely on actual exam questions from exam papers.

3.

Make sure you have the appropriate revision guides, making use of any online resources widely available. Some students like flash cards, quizzes, notes, podcasts so find one that suits you.

4.

If you find you better align with a different chemistry teacher at your school, speak to them as they should be happy to help

5.

If you have any additional questions/concerns, feel free to reply here and I’ll help where I can.

Good luck 👍
