Salford accomodation booking

We are still waiting for the accomodation to be open to book. Does anyone know when it’s open. The offer leaflet just says “spring”.
Also how easy is it to get your first choice of accomodation (favourite is Peel park on campus, but his seconds is the IQ one).
And finally - for peel park what is the difference between the bronze and platinum??

Thanks (an anxious mum!)

Hello! I'm applying for peel park accom this year and I'm not sure about the dates, but the difference between some of the rooms are how much window space there is and how much desk space there is! I'm pretty sure platinum has a bigger desk, personally I'm going for bronze but if your son/daughter has a lot of stuff or a big PC with 2 monitors it might be best! I'm also confused about the dates, I'm anxiously checking my emails every day haha. Good luck with their accom booking!!
Hi @Abetal and @camj212 ,

We're currently waiting on confirmation from Campus Living Villages (the team that run our Peel Park Quarter and John Lester Eddie Colman accommodation sites) for when they're going to be open for accommodation bookings for Sept 25 - Spring is still the best estimate, so we'd recommend keeping an eye on the PPQ website for any further details!

If you've applied to study with us (or your child has!), we'll email when bookings go live - we'll contact via the email address on the application to us, so my best advice is to make sure you're checking that address regularly. We've also seen some emails from our team end up in junk folders recently - just make sure you have us on your safe senders list to avoid this happening!

In terms of ease for booking - PPQ is a very popular option for accommodation, so we recommend booking as early as possible once the sites have opened. If you do happen to miss out we find that students do release their room bookings up until September which are then rereleased to allow for new reservations - we're still waiting to hear on the process for this year, but its worth contacting our Peel Park Quarter Accommodation team if you find this is something you're interested in doing.

In terms of difference between the room types, its mainly the size of the room that changes - the bronze rooms are really reasonably sized as a baseline option, and both room types come with the same bed, bathroom and wardrobe sizes. The main difference is the space at the bottom of the bed/desk area - you get more space for the platinum rooms, with a longer desk. Personally (after having stayed there myself as a student!) I'd say the bronze rooms are perfectly fine in terms of space, and don't feel small. You have lots of underbed storage too, so the rooms do maximise the amount of space.

I hope that helps! If you have any queries let me know

has he looked at X1? i believe they’re open for next year? they have a few different locations in salford too, there is also true student at mediacity if he’s based at that campus. i don’t blame him for not being keen on JL and EC!

Me again! I've just seen that this webpage (https://www.salford.ac.uk/askus/topics/accommodation/looking-for-accommodation) has a description in the differences between the room types, which might be useful to you!

What’s the best accommodation for students on an allied health course that will be working shifts in hospitals?

Hello @Jetster72,

I would say either of the accommodations that we look after would suit your work schedule and working shifts. We have spoke a little earlier in this thread about the options we have and the details of our Peel Park Quarter and our John Lester and Eddie Colman halls, so I do not want to repeat any of that information.

The reason I say that either option would suit you is because of the transport links available around each of the accommodation options. I am not sure what hospital you will be doing your shifts at but I can confidently say that we have transportation links available that would be able to get you to the major hospitals in Manchester and Salford.
Whether that be the bus (with a bus stop at the top of our campus), a train (with Salford Crescent station at our Peel Park Campus) or a tram (with tram stops at our Media City Campus). You have all the transport options available to you.

I hope this helps.
