Can I still take a humanities major if I am taking STEM A-Levels subjects?

I am planning to take Bio, Chem and Phy for my A-Levels as I have a huge interest in doing science-related major for uni. However, I am scared that I will change my career path in the future to one of the humanities uni majors. Should I still take 3 sciences for my A-Levels or should I take 2 sciences and 1 humanities subject?

Law has no specific entry requirements for example, so you can do that.

Is there any specific degree that you’re interested doing?

As someone who loves history and science and thought very hard about whether to do a history or science degree, but eventually chose history as I hate practicals, I am just slightly salty that a degree in Sociology and the Politics of Science exists. It's almost like a degree was written for me (would be perfect if it included a little more history).

Hey there,

Many universities allow entry based primarily off UCAS points achieved, including Liverpool Hope. What's important if you were looking at doing a humanities subject later down the line, is that you demonstrate that you are passionate and really want to go down the humanities route in your application and personal statement - if you would be concerned that STEM subjects would detract from your overall application, it doesn't necessarily at all, as many of the skills and commitment it takes to do these A-Levels are transferable across many subjects!

Furthermore, combined honours degrees are always a great idea - for example here at Hope we offer subjects such as Human Biology and Criminology all the way to Conservation Biology and Human Geography, just to illustrate that universities do often offer a diverse array of Science + Humanities combined honours and more! All it takes is a good look into the possibilities through the UCAS website and elsewhere.

Wishing you the best wherever you end up going, STEM, humanities, or otherwise!

Well, you could do what I did and do Bio Chem and psychology. Psychology has some science stuff in it (mostly comes in year 13) and it's kinda a humanities I think. I can't guarantee it'll work though, I'm still only in year 12.
