Book recommendations

so for a few months now i have been SUPER into video essays on youtube- mostly fashion+sustainability, but also things like the state of our society (beauty standards, media illiteracy, social media’s impact on people today, etc.) - i have watched „The Hate U Give” in school before and i LOVED it (i am planning on reading it too!), some books on my reading list include pride and prejudice and to kill a mocking bird. i was wondering if there’s any other books people have read that may interest me based on these factors? i usually only ever read fiction books (romance, fantasy, adventure, sci-fi and all) but i’m up to try some non-fiction ones if theres good recommendations, too! feel free to also drop some good self-improvement books if you have them, i’ve been looking for some in that genre aswell - thanks!! x

When asked about book recommendations I simply can't resist my desire to recommend Dostoyevsky. No-one else will teach you to understand humans like he does, this knowledge applies to any social issues there are. Classics are the basis of everything, without them it's hard to critically view all of the other literature. So I would not recommend only focusing on modern books, try to have a look at those great texts first.

I just finished Noughts and Crosses. Not my usual kind of book (I'm a crime fiction nut) but i found the concept interesting. i tried to watch the tv series after but decided it was too different and the reviews weren't great.

You may like Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler! It's hard going like most of her books, but a good read.
