UKMT summer schools

heyy I am in y10 and got invited to the ukmt summer school after sitting the IMC. I was wondering if anyone here is going or has gone as I have no idea what to expect!

OMG you're so lucky! Very few people get invited... How did you prepare for IMC?

to be honest I was really into the maths challenges in y7-9 and did loads of prep (past papers, online question generators + in y7 my school had an after school club for it which I sometimes went to) but this year it was around the same time as mocks so I didn't do much prep. I think I got pretty lucky because I only got 98 on the IMC but I think it's random selection from the top 1.5% of scores. Good luck if you're doing it!!

https://www.interactive-maths.com/ukmt-random-question-generator.html is a good one. it generates a random question of a difficulty that you chose. also I saw on your thread that you are lookin for someone to study with and we do pretty similar subjects for GCSE although I'm in y10!

Hi I only got 105 (i think) so i was slightly surprised that i got the summer school invite. I did the Pink Kangaroo today though - not sure about when we are allowed to speak about it so best not mention anything more specific

The invites go at random to people in the top 1.5% not from the top score down.

I’m aware. Just didn’t expect I would be a part of the top 1.5% with the score I achieved

what is the sort of structure of the day? what kind of things will we do? no one from my school has ever been before so I just want to know sort of what to expect - thank you for taking time to reply!
