Second Degree Funding Query

I am looking to undertake a second undergraduate degree and would be seeking a further loan if eligible.

I note that subjects 'allied to medicine' can qualify me for a loan and believe that, based on its CAH code (02-06-06), complimentary and alternative medicine falls under this category.

Are you able to confirm, therefore, that a BSc in Herbal Medicine would qualify me for a second student loan, please?

Hi there,

What is the full name of the university and course so we can check this for you? Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason

Thanks for your response. It would be at Lincoln University and is Level 6 BSc (Hons) Clinical Herbalism. I would be interested in either the part time or full time option.

Many thanks in advance
Amy

Hi there, the course Clinical Herbalism at Lincoln University does not show on the current database, you may need to speak to your university to update this for you. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi there,

The course isn't a full time exception course, and the college isn't showing it as part time only full time. Have you spoken to them to see if they will be offering it part time?

Thanks,
Claire

Hi, they offer a part time option on their website, so my assumption would be that they are offering it at least in the immediate. I can contact them to confirm but, are you able to confirm that the course is classed as a part-time exception course and would be eligible for SL finance please?

Thanks very much

We can't confirm it as a part time exception as it's not showing on the system. We need to see it on the system so we can then see the codes it comes under etc and see if this shows as an exception.

Thanks,
Claire

Good morning

Thanks again for your help. I have spoken to the provider and the SLC code is 846029. I have been advised it is not yet open for applications for September 2025, which is presumably why it is not showing on the system yet.

Thank you

Hi there,

Thanks, did they give you an idea of when the course will be available on our database? Will it happen in the near future?

Thanks, Graeme

No they didn't let me know that, sorry.

That's no problem - the moment the university tell you that the course is in the database you'll be fine to apply. So, it may be worth reaching our to them again later to see if they can give you a timescale for when this should be done.

Thanks, Graeme
