Can I find a job after warwick law

Basically, when I was in my last year of high school, there was a big earthquake centered in my city and I decided to study abroad. At that time, I was learning English and getting my mental strength together etc. etc. and I took 3 gap years and then I was accepted to the law foundation year. My question is, after studying law at Warwick, can I get a training contract or a vacation scheme? To what extent will my 3 gap years put me at a disadvantage or will they see that I took 3 gap years? I have a chance to study economics. I need the most honest comment for this.

Honestly, nobody can tell what will happen.

What I can tell is that if you do not go, you will get nothing. Follow your aspirations and don't calculate. Maybe you don't want practising law when you graduate.

Your gap years is part of your life and experience. Would you say any of your adventure or experience doing harm to your career? Be prepared to share your experience when asked.

Good luck.

There is no guarantee of a training contract or other legal job, but Warwick is a good place to study, and there is no reason why you would not be a competitive candidate for employment if you obtain a 2.1or higher from Warwick. Nobody will hold taking time out of education against you.

3 gap years is not putting you into any disadvantage, instead you have more to talk about on your experiences. Warwick is top top uni, it's a good foundation to get training contracts. But someone a way lower ranked uni could get training contract, they look at you as a person and depends on how you perform in interviews and whether you match firms values.

Do law or economics, do what you find more interesting and what you want a career in, both a good degrees and you can get good jobs off them.

Good luck

Highly unlikely
How are you so sure?

Very likely. Your situation sounds like extenuating circumstances and shows perseverance and resilience if anything.

Thank you for your response. Now, I need to make a decision. I believe I can achieve either a 1st or a 2:1 in law, but it looks like there will be changes to the Graduate Route visa. Typically, I need to find a job before my student visa expires to apply for it, and I am really unsure whether I will be able to secure a training contract (TC) in my second year or how disadvantaged I might be.

I ve received a lot of different opinions on this some people say I wont be able to get a job, while others say that my unique story will make me stand out. The reason I decided to study law in the first place was this: After losing my close friends and people I knew under the rubble and seeing that the responsible parties were not held accountable, I decided I wanted to study law and set my sights on Warwick.

However, some people have said that studying law is not the right path for my story. They might be right I dont know. If you have any other thoughts on this and would like to share them with me, I d be very happy to hear them. Thank you in advance.
