Engineering Work Experience

I'm a year 12 trying to find some work experience related to engineering (preferably mechanical or aerospace) but I cant seem to find anything that isn't virtual work experience, I'm going to do online courses but I would also love some in person work experience, does anyone have any suggestions or links, I live in the West Midlands.
Follow up question, because I have some connections at a hospital, if I get work experience there, would that be helpful on a CV?

Perhaps the hospital would be able to give you work experience in a department linked to engineering (creation or fitting of prosthetics or orthopaedic equipment)?

I’m assuming you have tried any large manufacturing plants nearby? A local airport or train station may be worth trying too? Although not directly related, perhaps a design organisation/architects/surveyors or a motor repair garage might be interesting?

Getting work experience isn’t easy so try any places you could reasonably get to. Expect lots of rejections or no response at all. But be persistent. Keep trying places. Write a succinct, polite and personalised email to a named person at each place (if you can) and attach a CV. Explain briefly why you want experience there and what traits you have that make you a good candidate. All work experience is good even if you don’t enjoy it! Good luck

I completed an Airbus online work experience through springpod. At least it was something I could put on a CV to help me get in-person experience.

For in-person work experience, I search on Google maps and found all the local engineering companies, then I sent emails around. Only a few got back to me but you only need one to reply and you'll get a weeks worth of experience.

If it comes to it, some experience is better than nothing even if it not in the industry that you want to go into.
