SFE funding. Dentistry 1 repeat year

I had to resit my first year of my 5 year dentistry degree. So I will complete my degree in 6 years instead of 5.
Will SFE support my maintenance loan and tuition fees as usual or will I have to self-fund anything?
I haven't taken any other years of study or repeat years. Thank you

Good morning,

Yes, you'd be assessed for the funding. Thanks, Jason

What does this entail? Will I be assessed both for maintenance and tuition loan? I've been assuming I'd be fine and would just go through the regular application process...

Yes, that's right - you'll be entitled to the Tuition Fee and Maintenance Loans.

The 25/26 applications are open right now, so if you want you can re-apply online right now and indicate that you'll be repeating the year.

Thanks, Graeme

I'm in 3rd year now but I repeated my 1st year. I've been applying for maintenance and tuition loans as normal. So currently I'm on my 4th year of loans and my 3rd year of university. What i'm anxious about is after next year, so my 5th year of uni, but 6th year of loans, is there any difference in applying for loans?

You're entitled to an additional year of funding from us automatically: this means you're covered if you need to repeat a year.

So, this all sounds fine. Were you able to re-apply for 25/26 okay, did that work alright?

Thanks, Graeme
