Bangor past/present students

So I know that students studying dental/ medical courses at Bangor university all stay in the same accommodation. Is that in Fridd? St Mary’s? New accom, old accom? And is it a nice vibe to share with these people?

Students can choose either. They do not all stay in the same place.

I heard that nursing/dental students are put in the same accommodation due to the course ending at different times

Maybe I am wrong; you would need to ask Bangor university about it to make sure.

How did you find it? The uni itself and the area?

The university is fine, the old building on top of the hill is nice. The city centre is OK, nothing spectacular I am afraid. The surrounding area is nice though, plenty of forests etc. Anglesey is worth visiting while you are there too; but all in all it is a good university to go to. Have you been to any open days?

Medical sciences students can stay in any, but nursing students have to stay in borth in ffridd tgats old a comodation, it’s not as nice as the other accommodation but it does have en suite, borth kinda looks like a prison cell with an en suit but it is cheaper. Hope that helps

Hi 2nd going into 3rd year finance and banking student at Bangor. I will say if you’re the type that gets bored quite easily such as nothing to do, then absolutely consider not going 🤣. The high street is woeful, there has been some investment, but absolutely not a thriving high street. It’s definitely more of a pub town, not a nightclub, you only have two main ones which are academi and trilogy, both are ok but definitely not worth going every week it’s gets boring quite quickly. There is a cinema but it’s more of a theatre than a cinema, the nearest you will have to travel to Llandudno to Cineworld for any decent movies. There is a market in the high street on certain days that’s quite okay I guess but once again nothing extraordinary. It’s got great scenery though I will say that, if you do stay in fridd, the only redeeming feature is bar uno, there was a little shop there, but they closed that down, there used to be an old lady in there, she single handily made the stay at fridd so enjoyable, I hope she works at bar uno (haven’t been there in a while). So basically to conclude, it’s a very boring place if scenery doesn’t do it for you, is it bearable absolutely, just don’t expect it to be great on the social side if you don’t bring a car up to travel to other places in North Wales. As I’m originally from South Wales, this place took me ages to adjust cause I just got pretty bored easily, however, you’re there for a degree at the end of the day. Hope this has helped (sorry it’s long) any more questions feel free to ask
