GDL Scholarship from an Inn of Court - Do you need to secure a place first?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I genuinely can't seem to find the answer anywhere. When you apply to a GDL scholarship from one of the four Inns of Court, is it a prerequisite of your application that you have already confirmed a place somewhere?

Or is it standard to wait to hear back on a scholarship application before finalising your GDL place itself. Especially since you can apply to that right up until August

Certainly for Bar course scholarships, you only have to send confirmation of a place at the point where the Inn is going to transfer the money to you. It's probably helpful to have an idea of where you think you are going to apply, as they may ask in the interview.

The application deadline for Gray's Inn GDL Scholarships is 2 May 2025. Don't wait until you have a place on a course.

You don't have to. They only ask for confirmation after they offer an award
