Cambridge Conditional Offer Deadline For Graduation

Is anyone familiar with or has been through the process for asking for a deadline waiver/extension for the graduation requirement for the offer?
School in France ends in September but the Conditional Offer is by late July which is impossible to do because of difference in school calendars.
Would appreciate any guidance on this!

PG presumably? If so, then the 31 July deadline isn't a hard deadline, you just need to tell them you are still waiting to complete your conditions, and give them an approx date.

The problem is that there is nothing you can do about your College which will likely begin to allocate accommodation. If you can't confirm until September, then you may miss out on accommodation, depending on your specific College accommodation size and rules.

Occasionally you can negotiate some paperwork from your leaving Uni that will satisfy Cam before the final degree award, but not often. Cam will insist on seeing a confirmation that nothing can possibly change your degree grade, ie no viva, no moderation etc. You don't have to physically have gone through any ceremony etc, so long as your grade is irreversible.

Hi! Thanks for the kind reply! Yes for PG! Yeah that would make sense! My main worry was about the college accommodation to be honest :,( Thanks for suggesting the paperwork route! I will try to do that but French admin is also super annoying so yeah it is pretty difficult to get around these stuff! Thanks so much once again and hopefully all goes well!

Hey, I am in a similar situation. I had to defer an exam due to ill health, which I will be taking at the start of August, meaning I complete my degree then. However, my final transcript is unavailable until between the 15th and 20th of September. I have not requested accommodation as I am a Cambridge resident. I am also a home student. @threeportdrift Are you able to advise here? Thanks so much.

If you aren't bothered about accommodation and live within 10 miles of Gt St Marys, you've got no problem. Just tell the PAO that you are unable to confirm your conditions until X date. As 15-20 Sep is technically 'really bl**dy late!' I'd tell your College and Department/Supervisor the dates as well. If you have any informal grade before that, then PAO won't be swayed, but it might ease concerns from the Dept and College.

Thanks so much for your reply! Do you know if this is a request that is usually rejected based on your past experience? And what may be things I can do to avoid that, as I do understand it is quite late.

No, it's always accepted. The view is really that it's your problem. Occasionally from College you might get a slightly terse sounding answer, because it's an admin pain the more people don't stick to the timings, but it is what it is.

Just be aware, most delays are only to the middle of August, so mid-September is very late. But so long as you keep up the comms with the Dept and College, and they get the feeling you are really going to turn up, it will be OK.

I did it once as a continuing student, so Masters to PhD at Cam, with a change of College - didn't get confirmed until 28 Sep! I'd already moved up and was camping with a friend with my fingers crossed, but it all worked out.
