Request a different chair? GCSE exams

So in January last year (2024) I sat my 1st GCSE exam (Y10) then like two days later I developed back pain... It's never been the same since... It started getting better then in may-june last year (more exams) my back got worse again...

I'm not saying the exams were the course but they are definitely developing it...

Over the past few weeks it has gotten worse, and I'm in a lot of pain...

I was wondering if I could request different seating as the seats in the hall are ****... I'm at the back of the hall anyway BC I use a laptop, so that won't make a different in it being a 'distraxtion'

I have been to a doctor, she said I possibly have some week muscle in my back but it's normal because I'm a girl 😂.

Ovee the past few weeks it has gotten worse I now have most symptoms for Ankylosing Spondylitis and I don't know what to do in these exams ( on a couple of days I also have two exams in one day-so I REALLY need back support) (13 ish exams in total)

Also do you guys have any advice to help it? Or like a type of cushion to sit on or rest behind my back if I can't get a different seat or to have alongside it?

I would suggest just requesting a new seat to like the teachers or whoever is in charge of that stuff. Although, most seats are like arranged alphabetically (well at least ay school and college) so who knows. Always best to ask.

Seats are arranged alphabetically, (apart from people who use laptops- because we have to be at the back)
Which is better, if I have a different seat- as it's less obvious.

Why was wondering if it was reasonable excuse you to have a different seat, I don't have an actual diagnosis on why I am in pain... So I don't know what would be allowed

Yes, I would say it's a reasonable excuse considering if it's getting only worse, it will affect your exam performance. And you should probably get a diagnosis again if you can. If you can't, just ask your teachers about it. If you can't change seats, maybe they'll let you do the exam somewhere more comfortable. You only know if you ask.

Bit late but you don't need a diagnosis just if possibly have your GP or physio whatever email the person in charge of access arrangements to say you are having back pain that's all they need

You don't need a diagnosis just need your go or medical professional to email who ever is in charge of access arrangements in your school to say you do have back pain and that should be good
