The Student Room Group

GYG of a Year 10

I’m a student in year 10 and I honestly doesn’t know how I’ve got some of my predicteds. With that said, here they are:

Maths: 9
Kinda expected, my strongest subject and one of my favourites. I should pay more attention though.

RS Short Course: 9
MY MOCK IS IN TWO WEEKS AND I GENUINELY DONT KNOW MORE THAN TEN QUITES HOW DO I HAVE A PREDICTED NINE. Please teach me how to revise quotes, I’m good at the other stuff.

Bio: 7
Again, kinda expected, is my lowest. I don’t mind the subject but there is a lot of memorisation.

CS: 8
Probably my favourite subject, I could probably get 9 predicted if I ever revised for it. Love coding, love/hate theory.

French: 8
CHANGE YOUR PHONE TO THE LANGUAGE YOU STUDY. Immersion genuinely is better than literally anything else. I just need to nail down tenses and I can probably get this to 9 as well.

Physics: 8
Love/hate it, I really need to pay more attention and do more PPQs.

Chemistry: 8
My teacher is the only reason I’m not on 7 here, she is the best teacher I have. I quite like this subject, my revision for it is good too.

Geo: 8
Love and am great at human geography, not so much physical. I’ve locked in my revision for it now, just need to keep it up and maybe I’ll get a 9.

History: 8
Love the subject but my wrist hurts after the tests. I need to learn how to revise Health and the People.

Eng Lang: 8
I like reading, I like writing. Have never revised for it ever, reading and writing semi-regularly is adequate. My writing speed is a bit slow but I still get the marks that sweats who do 4 pages get so I’m not too worried.

Eng Lit: 8
What is the point of this subject, it does NOT need to be mandatory. The bane of my existence. The actual texts are nice, but the analysis is just not it.

I’m aiming to revise at least 5/7 days of the week basically daily until my GCSEs, I’m almost there with the schedule I’d say, but need to improve my methods.

For chem my teacher is js goated, for maths, idk how to explain but I don’t acc see numbers in my head, I see shapes. Tbh maths is more abt the mindset of problem solving in a sense, because once your approach is good you can learn everything quickly. Cl I spent all of Covid on scratch, and learning how to code rlly helped me bcos 1) cs is 50% numbers ibr and 2) it forces u into that mindset iykwim. DO NOT SPEND MORE THAN LIKE 10 MINUTES LEARNING SMTH FROM THE TEXTBOOK, acc applying stuff is where u learn.
