CS /Tech degree apprenticeship w or w/o uni ?

Hey so I got an offer from a pretty big company to a degree apprenticeship in dts(digital and technical solutions). However the apprenticeship isn’t with a uni (it’s with a private training provider) so it’d require me to the study online whilst working as opposed to working and going to a uni.

Does anyone have any advice/ experience with degree apprenticeships paired with uni or degree apprentice with private training providers ?

Both positive and negative opinions are welcome as I wants to the pros and cons of both.

Hey I didn't answer earlier as I am not a degree apprentice, however, Ive noticed it has gone unanswered for some time.

I am an apprentice in 2 different workplaces as they are only level 3, and I do have multiple friends doing degree apprenticeships that I have consulted for this answer:

So my friend does a level7 audit apprenticeship and how his is structured without uni is training weeks and days in a rented facility- so either a college or workspace with other apprentices for specific educated learning and training, then have access to an online portal for education and are aware months in advance of exams that are taken together.

For the exams instead of how most companies advertise- 4 days at work and 1 day for study they have study leaves that they request that are very flexible and often trusted by their employer to make sustainable judgements.

He very much likes it as it provides him independence- and in the company they work in they can book meeting rooms at any one of the office locations the company owns for studying etc so the lack of university libraries aren't an issue for them.

They didn't mention any cons specific to them just pros tbh!, Im very happy to ask them any specific questions if you want to know more, sorry Im responding to this, they dont use this site!

Goodluck, I hope this helped even a little bit.

Hi there,

Thank you very much for the insight and I apologise for the delay in my response! (I kinda forgot I’d posted this lol) I think my main concern was whether the online learning style is best suited for me. The closest form of online learning experience I have is from COVID during high school, which wasn’t the most productive time I’ll be honest...

I do have one question, is he familiar with the “flipped classroom approach”?
It’s essentially where the learning is done beforehand, and your knowledge is tested via seminars with seniors.

And if so what are his thoughts? (what does he like/dislike)
