Architecture at Cardiff Uni

Hey everyone!

So I applied for my uni's this year and I think I'm going to go to Cardiff. I've got accepted but I'm nervous beacuse I dont really know how to draw architectual drawings or use any software because they don't teach that at my sixth form.
Is it okay to go to Uni for architecture without previous knoweledge on this course. Or is there anything that I should do throughout the summer to prep.

Thanks!!

Can you give me a little information about your portfolio.
Are you a good artist?
Currently I prepare my portfolio to apply to the foundation year at Cardiff but I do not know if they require an outstanding portfolio.

Most Architectural students are like you, relax. They will teach you.

The drawing and software are outside "normal" school curricula.

You are taught this on the course. If you have been offered a place, your portfolio and skills were of the required standard for the course. If you want to do something over summer, just keep sketching.

Sure!
So I began with doing some observational drawings for the first couple pages just to show that I can draw with various medias and that I can draw from still life, shade add highlights etc. Then I included two of my art projects (including the preparation, developments annotations and final outcome etc). Then I did some pro create drawings on my Ipad to show some digital art and then I made a wooden stick bench (it really wasn't that good, but I included it anyways haha).

I hope this helps! Goof luck!!

Hiya,

So my housemate does architecture, and I'm currently doing my masters in the school of architecture. At an undergraduate level you can definitely get through with little knowledge/experience, as they do give guidance on that throughout first year especially. But I would always recommend practicing drawing skills (as software you might not have access to, but you will with the uni) throughout the summer, maybe youtube tutorials, and things would make your skills, confidence better for starting uni!

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions,
