Is it worth taking a gap year to reapply to Oxford for History?

I’ve currently got offers for History from Warwick, Kings, UCL and LSE, but have been rejected from Oxford. I’ve always wanted to go Oxford and was wondering if it’s worth taking a gap year to reapply, and if it would be possible to defer my entry for the other universities.

You can't make an application if you hold a deferred entry offer from another university. You can't hedge your bets.

Take a gap year if you have a plan for the year. Don't take a gap year simply in the hope of obtaining a place at Oxford. There is no guarantee that you will obtain a place. You have offers from four good universities and would probably be better off going to one of those. If you do well there you might be able to study at Oxford as a graduate student.

History at Oxford is not easy to get admission into and you have LSE, which is amazing with a world reknowned reputation and also UCL, KCL and Warwick with top tier global reputations.

I've seen loads of LSE and UCL graduates study for a Master's degree at Oxford or Cambridge on Linkedln. 😉

The risk if you reapply is that you get neither Oxford nor LSE next time around.
