University Choices

I have applied to study law in the UK and have received my conditional acceptances from the five universities, however, I need some opinions regarding my 'firm' and 'secondary' choices. I applied to Queen Mary, Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds, and Birmingham, and would like some insight on the university life, safety, and quality of education in either of the universities.
@QMUL Student Rep , @University Of Manchester @Nottingham Uni @Leeds University @University of Birmingham - can any of you help with your individual institution?

Hi there!

Its always difficult picking a university, and there is a lot to consider in this very personal decision. I would advise generally to...

1.

Choose a uni based on the content of the course - which has modules that sound the most interesting to you? What would you choose if you went to that uni? Do the modules line up with your interests and any career goals you may have?

2.

Aim for a campus/city you like the look of. Have you checked out the unis' websites to see any pictures of campus, done any virtual tours, and had a look into what the cities are like (you can use google earth for this if you are not able to come in-person, as well as youtube vids!) For example, Leeds and Notts are much smaller cities than London, Manc and Birmingham.

3.

Do any of your course offers include the chance for an industrial placement? This could be a great thing to do if its for you!

Your firm uni should be your top choice - somewhere you really want to go to - this does not necessarily have to be your uni with the highest requirements but people often choose their aspirational uni as their firm choice. Your insurance choice should also be somewhere you'd more than happily go to but has grade requirements 1-2 grades/IB points lower than what you're predicted, to give you a safety net if things don't go as well as expected on results day.

I hope some of this helped, best of luck in what you choose!

Look at campus-tour films, and city-tourist films, on YouTube.
London is expensive - and QMUL is in the East End, not a safe area.
Any of the others would be more interesting, vibrant and cheaper cities to live in.
