Classical Civilisation A-level 30marker

Hi,
I do WOTH, Greek Theatre and Politics of the Late Republic and have no idea how to write the 30 markers - all I know is I have to include secondary sources. If anyone has any help on how to structure these, how many points should be used and just anything that could help it would be greatly appreciated! Im currently writing my first 30 marker now and I feel so lost

Thank youuu

I always aim for 5 distinct points with ideally 3 specific AO1 references per point, vases or plays, and 2 scholars in the essay minimum (no long discussions on them or any though if i am honest)

agree/disagree questions are easier, two points on the argument you dont agree with, 3 on what you do but broad themes can be a bit harder.

for example for a Greek theatre Q on the value of costume in comedy and tragedy

intro: different aims in tragedy vs comedy, though both costumes have impact on the audience visually and for functional purposes

P1 - body Costume reinforcing humor in comedy

good to mention a vase for example here

dionysus in frogs

scholar e.g. Morton: non verball humor is perennially appealing

p2 - body Costume reinforcing serious themes in tragedy

e.g. full dress, the Dressing tragic actors vase e.g. showing shoes used to portray particular region of northern thrace

p3 - function of masks showing details in both

e.g. showing age: Promonos vase

showing age in comedy e.g. Comic angels vase or Cheiron vase

p4 - function of masks with exaggerated features

grotesque in comedy

serious in tragedy

size and shape of theatre, large audience (also open mouthed masks help amplify noise)

p5 - function of masks - audio and visual effect

as a prop e.g. Oedipus mask with bloodied eyes, pentheus' mask as a prop on the thyrsus in bacchae

would be easy to mention a scholar on oedipus' character for example Hall: 'falls from the highest of estates', talk about how his downfall is emphasised through costume/mask here

conc

summarise purpose of costume in both, similarities despite different aims

I hope this was somewhat helpful and not too overcomplicated haha and good luck with all
