Deferred 2025/26 entry at university

Hi,
I have deferred my first undergrad university year to 2025/26 instead of 2024/25 at the University of York due to personal circumstances and I just wanted to ask if the process is still the same as how you would apply as a first time undergrad? This might sound silly but if I deferred my first year of uni, would I still be considered as a first year undergraduate even though my entry is deferred? I’ll be studying Adult Nursing MNurs (hons) and I also wanted to ask if will I still be needed to complete all of the DBS stuff and ceritification again? I’m not sure who to contact from the university about this as there are so many email addresses and they direct from one to the others endlessly and it just get confusing😂
If anyone knows who is best for me to contact about this at the uni or knows the process of a deferred entry anything please let me know as this is my first time having a deferred entry at uni

If you applied and were accepted in the last UCAS cycle, albeit for a course starting in September 2025, then should should have nothing to do. There is no need to "apply" for anything (except student finance and accommodation), and yes you would still be considered a first year student. What does UCAS Hub say the status of your application is?

I'm not sure about the "DBS stuff and ceritification". I suggest you contact [email protected] to check.

Okay thank you, the ucas hub just says “You have deferred your application to the next application cycle” and “Your application for Nursing Adult (Undergraduate) at University of York has been changed. Please view the choice to check the change.” Then it says “yes” for deferred entry and the start date obviously changed to October 2025 (previously it said 2024 before I got deferred). The DBS situation I think it’s more likely best if I contact the department right?

Also, I originally applied for the course to start in September 2024 however I deferred to September 2025 start instead. I don’t need to re apply and make a new application on ucas right? The university didn’t say anything about it and I’ve received an email to say I have an offer holder with them.

Correct, you don't need to reapply via UCAS. You have your place, and it's confirmed.

If you have a way of contacting the department directly to see if your DBS check from last year can be re-used, then feel free to do so.

Hello,
Yes I think everything is sorted now, I’m just waiting to receive all of the welcome emails regarding my course and everything I need to fill out to be on the course. Would you be able to check if I am still on the records as a first year undergraduate so that I can receive all the emails for my course, so that I don’t miss anything important regarding the induction for my course etc. 🙂
Many thanks,
Stefania
