Btec Extended diploma level 3 in Engineering at 19 (I need advice)

I'm currently 19 studying Btec Foundation national diploma level 3 in Engineering, I will finish this by June 2025. I was 18 when i started the course in year 1. I wanted to progress into year 2, Btec extended diploma, having in mind that I will still be 19 when I start year 2, but while finishing the year 2 course, I will be 20. The problem is I don't know if I will be able to do year 2 (Extended diploma) as I'm 19 as 1 of my teachers said there is a chance I will not be able to continue next year, is this true? I wanted to go university to do a degree in Engineering related to mechanics or electrical. Can someone please help me and give me some advice as I'm currently stressed and not knowing what to do if I'm not able to do the 2nd year.

Your teacher is wrong, you can study the course for free at 19-20 if you don't have any other A Level equivalent qualifications.

However the L3 Foundation Dip is classed as a full 'A level equivalent (1.5 A levels) course so the teacher may not be wrong (depends when OP turns 19).

If you're under 19 on 31 August in the year you start your course and are a UK resident, you're automatically exempt from tuition fees.
As you will have a L3 FD, then your teacher may be correct, as you will already have a 'full L3 qualification'.
If you do need to pay for the course, you can apply for an Adult learner loan.

In the year I will start the year 2 (Extended diploma), I will be 20 on 31 august. But will this stop me from not being able to do Extended Diploma? as my teacher said, but it's still not yet confirmed.

Also, is there any other route I can get to university and do a degree within engineering?

It is possible that you may not be able to do it. It depends on the College policy, which your teacher will know.
If they do let you do it then they can charge you (could be up to £5000), but you would be able to apply for an adult learning loan.
Alternatively you could look at University websites and see if you can find a Foundation course that will accept the Foundation diploma (you will likely need to get a Distinction or Distinction star).
Or, instead of going back to college for the Ext diploma, do an Access course instead, which you can use to apply to University.
