Oral health science work placement
I have applied for Oral Health Science at uni of Essex and wondered if anyone has any info about work placements, literally any info as I can’t seem to find anything regarding this at all, no real questions to ask just curious as to where previous placements have been and experiences when on them, are they paid (I’m assuming no) etc - Thank you!

It is great that you want to presue your studies with us at Essex!
We offer different placement opportunities with a minimum 14 clinical hours per week if you are doing a BSc.
Information on placement providers by other students in [previous years can be found in the bellow website.

Does anyone know how placement works? Would I be doubled up with one hygienist on my own or would there be more than one student with one hygienist? Hope that makes sense

Placements would probably be 3 or 4 students being paired up with one hygienist but also having one to one sessions with a set hygienist as well ✨️
I would expect you to be in a group that is supervised by a hygienist during the week and maybe at some point during the end or middle of the week, you may have a one to one session with a hygienist to catch up and review all the work and how you are doing. Your department can further advise you on this ☀️

Do you have a choice of placement location or can you request an area close if given one that isn’t easily accessible etc or is it literally just random

You will most likely be given some options, it won't be completely random, you will have an input as well!
