Applying for TT - Partner and I seperated

Morning,

My partner and I have recently separated and we have two dependants.

We have decided to stay in the home until I complete my TT next year and he will help with paying the family bills and looking after the children whilst I complete the course. (It is a mutual split and he understands this has been a five year goal to get onto the TT program and he fully supports me completing it, as he knows I will have a better future afterwards.)

However, he said understandable he is not willing to support me financially. I am working at present but obviously will have to leave my employment in the summer.

How do I complete the student finance in preparation for submitting for maintenance and tuition loan and do I input my partners salary or not....

Little confused on how to proceed....

Many Thanks

Hi Vikitoria, We would advise to apply as normal, but indicate that you are now separated on the application. We will then ask for evidence of the separation as part of the application review. At this point you can provide the Marital Status declaration form to confirm the separation. We can use a Council tax bill that shows one of these discounts:

25% single person occupancy discount

18-20 still in education

Single person discount

Sole occupier discount

Only one adult resident

If you have none of the above, then you can submit a copy of your Tenancy Agreement/Mortgage Statement and two utility bills, (in your own name only) dated within the last 6 months (gas, electric, water, council tax, landline etc.) with the required Marital Status Declaration (MSD) form and these can be uploaded via the online account.

At the very minimum we would advise to complete the MSD form with as much information as possible and a letter from their ex partner will help assessors to understand their situation if included. Thanks, Stephen.
