Hi @amnahh.666

Great to hear you are considering university, which course was you looking into studying and at which university ?
You should be able to have a look into the course profile, on the university’s website to see if there is a placement year available or perhaps a module that allows a placement.

I would recommend contacting your university directly to discuss placement options too!

Hi @amnahh.666
If the course you are studying offers a placement year then potentially you should be able to add a year onto your course. I am studying business management with a sandwich year and was informed at the start of the year that students should not worry if they have opted for just the 3 year course but actually want to do a placement making it 4 years, it will be sorted around the start of the second year.
I would recommend contacting your university's admissions or career services department or simply just the head of your course for information on whether the course offers a placement year or not. They should help and direct you with the next steps on what needs to be done!
I hope this response has helped you! Please feel free to ask any other questions if you have any! Good luck with the rest of your course.
Thank you, Matt 🙂

Hi!

A placement year will usually add a year to your degree making it 4 years total.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂

Hi there @amnahh.666, you should speak to your personal tutor or course leader about the placement opportunities within the course and check if your faculty has a placement officer (the person in charge of placement students and provides industry contacts). You might want to contact some seniors who have done placements on your course to ask about their experience and if they have any contacts that might be useful when searching for one yourself. I hope this helps 🙂

Here are some links to some blog posts that I have written in the past about placement year and you may find useful:

What if my uni course is for 3 years but I want a placement year?

Hi there,
Hope you're doing great.

So you're considering adding a placement year to your current 3-year course, and you want to know if it's possible and what the process would be.
From what I've gathered from the search results, it seems that some universities allow students to switch to a placement year course, but it's usually optional and requires permission from the university before the course starts.
It's also mentioned that some courses may have limited quotas for placement years, so it's best to contact the university directly to confirm.
In your case, since your course starts in early October, it's worth contacting the university as soon as possible to inquire about switching to a placement year course.
Hope this helps.

Thanks & Regards
