Rethinking my course choice

I already applied to all 5 uni's and got all 5 offers but I'm now rethinking of my course choice. My application is a deferred application so I'm going into uni in 2027 and I'm happy with the uni's I chose I just don't really feel like I'm 100% sure about my course. Would it be possible to change my course once I've already joined the uni for first year because I don't want to take another gap year since I'm already taking one with my deferred entry.

Potentially - but it's much better to change the course now. The longer you leave it, the more likely it is that your target course becomes full.

So once you've decided you want to switch, contact the uni concerned and ask if they can change you offer for course X to an offer for course Y. They'll check whether that course still has space, that you meet the entry requirements, etc. and let you know. Don't wait until you've started on the "wrong" course.

Also sorry quick question but do uni's usually let you change it just like that or would they make me take another gap year? Because that's what I'm worried about, I don't want to take 2 gap years

If you meet the entry requirements, and if they have space, then yes. If they said you can't switch, would you just stick with your original course?

Since you are applying for deferred entry it shouldn't be a big problem - assuming that you meet the entry requirements. As above - ask asap. Never (ever) start any degree course you don't actually want to do.

But they wouldn't know if I meet the entry requirements because I haven't written my A-levels yet does this mean that I would ask them after results day? And yes if they said I couldn't switch then I wouldn't mind staying at my original course I would just much rather do another one

Your current offer is conditional, right? It's conditional you achieving certain A level grades. The offer for the new course would be the same.

When I said "If you meet the entry requirements" I guess I meant, "if you're likely to meet the entry requirements based upon your predicted grades." My point being that if you're predicted AAB and have offer for a course which requires AAB, but ask to switch to a course which requires A*AA, then there might be an issue.

If they approve a swap now, they'll just amend your conditional offer for course X to a conditional offer for course Z. You don't need to wait for your results.

Oh alright sorry I misunderstood! Thank you for being so helplful btw! do you also think the uni will ask for a new personal statement? The course that I have now requires BBB and the course I want to change it to also requires BBB so the grades probably wouldn't be a problem but the courses aren't similar at all. They're two completely different things and I don't have a personal statement for the new course so do you think I would need to start writing one or anything

Good question. Some unis pay little attention to personal statements (on the basis that some candidates have a lot of help putting them together whilst some have none, so to use them for decision-making would be unfair). Other unis place a lot of emphasis on them. Unfortunately, it's normally impossible to tell what viewpoint a particular uni takes.

If I were you, I'd contact the uni concerned as ask about a switch. If they ask for a new personal statement, you'll need to write one (they won't expect it immediately - they know they take time to write). But to starting writing one only to find that they don't need it would be frustrating.

Yeahh, I think I'll ask after consulting with my parents and maybe start writing a personal statement just in case and if they don't need it then its fine but I just want it over and done with if I do need one. Again thank you so much for answering my questions I appreciate it!
