transfer to york st john

hi im thinking about transferring to York St John for my second year to do law. I'm currently studying at northumbria uni.
one thing stopping me is graduate prospects. Would being at YSJ limit my chances to get a job at a London firm for example?

York St John isn’t as well-known as some larger law schools, and London firms do tend to recruit more from Russell Group universities. However, getting a job at a top firm isn’t just about the university—it’s also about your grades, networking, legal work experience, and extracurricular involvement.

If you’re aiming for a London firm, consider how YSJ supports law students in gaining internships, pro bono work, and networking opportunities. You might also look into transferring to a university with stronger law graduate prospects if that’s your priority.

Would you like help comparing different law schools for employability? Also, If you need help with your school assessment.

Hi!

While YSJ is a much smaller university, we do have a great law course with a very active law clinic. Additionally, our second campus is located in London, meaning we have great connections with the city.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂

Hi there!

The London campus is a satellite campus - meaning it is just an extra branch of the University in London, still under York St. John University. Currently this campus hosts postgraduate students only, though this might change in the future🤗 You can find out more about it here (link).
