Should I follow my gut?

I'm in the creative industry and I've been at my current job for almost 7 months. I really like the company I work for, people are friendly. However it's not creative it's very corporate and I'm the only creative on my team.

Some people do not care and do not follow simple guidelines that would help improve the company's position.

I've just had a gut instinct to leave the company and to apply for more creative positions. I feel like I'm going backwards in my career. I'm a really creative person and working on personal projects can sometimes be challenging because I find it difficult to be creative.

I will obviously remain in the company but I will make preparations to apply to a new role and leave.

The reason I decided to take on this role was that they advertised it as a creative position with creative freedom, which is not the case.

Any advice, should I follow my gut instinct?

I was in a similar position a year ago, I really liked the people I worked with but the job just wasn't giving me what I needed in terms of creative outlet. I would say definitely follow your gut, nice people are everywhere! I ended up leaving and now have an amazing team and all the creative freedom I could ever want. It can take a while to find somewhere, so keep looking and if a job feels right for then go for it, at least in the meantime you have friendly colleagues and a nice company while you wait for a role that's right for you.
