Isn’t is odd to hug someone’s leg?

Who do toddlers hug your leg? My toddler loves to hug my calf and rest her head on my knee. is there a certain age where they grow out of that stage? I mean, we dont hug people like that, it would be odd to hug someone’s leg. I’m curious what you do when they do this in public or home?

They are just kids showing affection, nothing wrong with it at all as they aren't yet tall enough to reach for a normal hug.
They will end up growing out of it when they are big enough to give a normal hug.

What do you mean they can’t hug you? I’m just asking why my toddler really loves to hug my leg. I mean wouldn’t it be weird if you went to go give somebody a hug and you wrapped both your arms around The Person’s leg and rested your head on their kneecaps?

Well you aren't 3 feet tall are you? If they are leg height they will hug at leg height.
If you are an adult of average size, you will hug another adult of average size normally (around their back) as you are both the same size.
It isn't a problem unless they repeatedly do this and you feel uncomfortable, in which case you should ask them to stop.

You are correct in that I’m not 3ft tall, but what do you mean “if you are Leg Height”?, I wouldn’t want to rest my head on a persons knees, or wrap both my arms and squeeze a leg . What do they see in that? Plus a knee is pretty hard, and she acts like it is a pillow…

How exactly do you return that hug?

Since the child is not yet as tall as you, and they are only as tall as your leg, they will hug your leg. When they grow up and are as tall as you are, they will stop hugging your leg and instead hug you normally.
It is probably just kids being kids, something cute they will outgrow.

I'd either crouch down to give them a proper hug or I'd just pat them on the head.

Is there a difference in one or the other? As in, why would you get down VS reaching down to pat the top of her head? And is petting their head okay? I can nearly reach the tippy top of her hair even then reach as far down as I can, so it wouldn’t be such. But would that be okay?

Let’s just say that someone can’t understand why children have childlike qualities, or are treated as children by adults. They also like to cross post with other websites and can’t get their stories straight as to what their relationship is with the children they’re asking about.

Background if anyone cares.

Bless you for being sufficiently good natured to take this thread seriously, but if this thread screamed troll any louder we'd all need ear defenders.

Ohhhh I remember now 🤣 I replied to their first post and you had seen that they'd posted the exact same thing on another website.
Question is, why are they doing this?
