It’s officially that time of the year again here at Kingston, Bright Ideas. Running for its 21st year, Bright Idea is a great opportunity for students and alumni of Kingston to pitch any idea that you could see growing into something bigger!

What you need to know.

Although bright ideas might seem daunting and a bit out of your comfort zone, it just takes a super simple idea to get you ahead! If you want to run a business or have a product that you think is worth investment then all you have to do is consider the following questions! The need/ problems addressed, what the idea is, your target audience and any potential competitors. All of which you probably already know. From here the breakdown of stages will allow you to work at a reasonable pace with all the information you need provided to you throughout the process.

How is it judged?

Made up of three stages, your idea will be judged across different panels and criteria. First, you will need to submit an online application. For this there is a form to complete, you can submit only one as an individual but numerous if you’re in different teams. Secondly, you will attend pitch sprint sessions which will not only give you the chance to head to the final but also allow you to develop your idea and gain helpful advice. Finally is the final and this really is the most exciting stage. Here your ideas will be sorted into categories based on the seven faculties here at Kingston, meaning that your idea is heard by those best suited to judge it! From this you can win prizes in each category in a super fun event.

Bright ideas isn’t only a great opportunity to practice your pitching and presentation, there’s also loads of benefits! With numerous cash investment prizes up for grab, bright ideas can really propel your idea to something much bigger. First place wins £1000, second place £250 and other prizes such as social media, networking and people’s choice, offer a really good chance to win big. And if maybe you don’t win don’t worry!
