GES Assistant Economist Scheme 2025

Hey all, I haven't seen any threads yet for the GES graduate scheme for 2025, only 2025 summer placement/Internship threads, so I thought I would make one in case anyone has questions/updates about this years intake + hiring process

Have you received any update on the online tests?

came here looking to see if anyone had got an update on the online tests - haven't received anything back yet

No I haven’t got an update yet either.

I think they finished sending out updates on March 11 as to whether or not you was progressed to the online tests in the first place. So with that I’m guessing could be another 1/2 weeks for the online test results

I’m guessing if I haven’t received any response, I haven’t made it through to the next stage?

I completed all the tests by the given deadline (27th) but still haven’t heard back. Unless they’ve already progressed with successful applications

The timeline that was set out before applications closed suggested that week commencing 10th March the pass mark for the tests would be set and then week commencing 17th March those that scored above this pass mark would be sifted to ensure they had a sufficient economic background. I'd suggest that not hearing anything is not cause for concern just yet, following what was suggested by this timeline

Thanks for mentioning the timeline 🙂 I had no idea about this. Have you heard back yet ?

did you guys find the test super easy. i managed to do each section in 5-7 mins out of the 15 mins we received and that after taking my sweet time rechecking. now i'm concerned that the time factor will also be included when marking and setting the score. I hope not otherwise I wouldn't have spent so much time going over each question more than once haha.

Just found out I passed as well, the tests did seem quite easy especially for a graduate scheme. The info about the scheme online is quite bad, is the next stage the assessment center?

Didnt make it past the initial tests

The tests were so easy i cant believe I didnt make the pass mark 😶 does anyone know what it was?

Sorry to hear. Don’t feel bad, it might not be that you didn’t pass the tests but that they didn’t feel you had enough economics experience / knowledge from studies. I think this plays into it too

Unfortunately, I didn't - but I do believe I know where I went wrong. That question in the verbal test regarding Mars - for some reason I got the impression from the practice tests that I should say a statement is true whenever the article in question makes a similar statement. In the Mars question, the paragraph clearly contradicted the statement, but it began by repeating the statement verbatim - if I had skipped the practice questions I would have gone with false.

It's alright mate don't beat yourself up. I think cuz of so much competition the pass mark is relative to the number of ppl who gave the tests. So even if u get 1 or 2 wrong there could be 100s who got all of them right

Emailed to ask the marks I got and the pass marks after being unsuccessful. Don't know when I will get a reply as they have probably been inundated with queries.

Was only uncertain one out of the 15 verbal questions this time round. And was in the 90th percentile for the numerical last year (failed EAC). Amazed I could have fell down that badly to not meet the pass marks.

I got a rejection email and then another email saying it was a mistake guys so maybe if you failed they might still be sending those out
