As in, they will let us know the outcome on last week of April / early may? The key dates say 5th May is the assessment centre so if that's the case, there is not much time to prepare, on top of university finals!

They said this: '
We intend to reach out to candidates by the end of April/1st week of May'

Yeah anyone know what this is about? Swear it was just assessment centre left, no? Any ideas on what its on it / what we could do to prepare?

I must have missed the application stages section in the job advert because i thought there would be a technical test as part of an assessment centre.

Are the tests are going to be based purely on the economic content of our courses? If anyone knows details of the structure (Mcq/ short answer questions) let me know please

:frown:

Nothing written about further tests under the application process on their website here:

https://ges-careers.hiringplatform.co.uk/list/assistant_economist_scheme_page_active?civil+services+website

Also nothing on their video at 25:00 here either:

Yeah that is really odd. Unless they’re making us do the technical tests before the interview instead? Either way they should really be transparent about the application process.

Is there a contact email by which we can ask them why the change from the assessment center as the next step?

Hi everyone!

So I emailed them last week and I had an email back saying they were in the process of setting up the EAC and I’ll hear back about my application at the end of April (I had the email today saying I was successful through the sift). I assume if they were setting up the EAC that the technical tests are just part of that? (I hope!) Perhaps it is referring to the technical report?

I am concerned about the lack of preparation time they have given us if the tests / interviews are next week! I have soo much uni work to be getting on with right now! So I’m really hoping that it’s just the technical report research that starts next week and then hopefully we will have a bit more time to prepare for the rest!

The whole scheme just seems to be incredibly mismanaged, I received an email after passing the online tests saying I was no longer eligible for the scheme despite meeting all the criteria (economics degree, 2:1, macro and micro etc.). But despite telling them they just keep saying they cant provide feedback so just seems the admin on this scheme is terrible...

Hi, I know preferences are considered but not guaranteed, but do you know if they would update department prefences if I emailed them? I emailed around a month ago but did not recieve a confirmation email or an email stating that they can't.

Also, with the strongest topic, did we put that in our initial application or will we be told which our one is just before the assessment centre? I have zero memory of putting it in my application but the video states we have in our initial application but the website states "You will be asked to state your ‘strongest area of economics’ in advance of your EAC".
