in the candidate pack in the email under the techn. rep. section they mention we have to write the report under exam conditions on the recruitment platform. i am guessing they will require mics and cameras to remain on?

Must be something like this, maybe even something to monitor screen.

Got my email too! Not much time to get any revision in haha! Good luck everyone!

I was just wondering, since the interview slots will be put out on the week commencing 5th May, how far from the technical tests deadline of 8th may can you expect to get the second stage booked in? Im assuming at least one week would be allocated for us to get an interview booked in (8th to 15th may) or am i wrong?

I have just received the email with the link - link doesn’t give much more insight into what to expect etc but I don’t want to click next incase it takes me straight to the test when I’m unprepared haha!

Ahhh! I thought that might be the case! I imagine we will have to show around the room etc before we start too

Finding it hard to revise such a broad range of topics lol. Also don't have access to my year 1 online textbooks anymore so relying on the free one they linked! Anyone focussing in anything in particular that you wouldn't mind sharing?

Having similar problems here - found these example questions here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1116644/Example_of_EAC_short_answer_questions.pdf Also I noticed this bit "Of all these books the first-year introductory texts and intermediate micro are the most important for EAC preparation. It is important that candidates understand the reasons for government intervention." So been looking at government intervention and more micro stuff initially but not really sure...

yeah, also saw this. I might just wing it for the SAQs and hope I remember most of the stuff as u only need 40% to pass, but even then that might be difficult considering there are more technical questions like the formula for PED, etc.

If you don’t have access to your first year text books I would just try going through the list of books they recommend including that free one - it does seem very broad I’m just going to try an revise my first year book as much as I can this weekend - what a fun bank holiday haha! I think those example questions seem quite tough! But maybe that’s because I just need to revise more!

idky my message isn't sending. i found intermediate micro by varian online, its quite long but explains introductory concepts well and i used it in my 2nd year. I'll just skip the heavy theoretical aspects.

Also the SAQs mentioned pareto efficiency, i did that in 2nd year as well but with topics like contract curves and edgeworth boxes. I don't think those will be relevant at this stage?

And do you think topics like Slutsky equation or compensating variation will be covered?

i find it absurd that we just basically have to memorise the technical report under exam conditions, could've just submitted it like an essay

I suppose this is their way of dealing with AI / LLM submissions

There's still gonna be ppl who are just gonna memorize ai tho

Can we do the SAQs and then choose to do the technical report later whenever we want? Or do they have to be done one after the other in quick succession?

yeah this to me sounds stupid as well. Also it sounds like you also memorise it for the presentation, but say it in a much simpler and less technical way, so we are just doing the same task twice!

You do the SAQs first. You will receive the link for the technical report after you have submitted the SAQs
