I DESPISE ENGLISH LIT A LEVEL (wjec) (year 12)

Please help, I hate this subject so so much. The book im studying is brain numbing and the question styles are long winded and boring. I am taking 4 a levels as of current: Law, English lit, Psychology & Religious studies. The only small light at the end of tunnel is a streetcar named desire but even then its not worth as many marks. As its march, is it too late to drop it? I genuinely think I may not do great in it anyway. Im conflicted and I dont know what to do please offer advice. Lots of my friends take three a levels and seem to be coping better than I am. The pressure is amounting up and i am critically scared of failure.
I understand that taking four acts as a fail safe - but like what does it matter if im going to fail anyway?
In my mocks I got AACC - A law, A RS, C english lit and C psychology.

You definitely don't need to do 4 like 3 is killing me already. I guess it depends on what you want to do at uni; having a 'harder' essay subject like English and History is helpful, but not imperative. If you hate it and can drop it then definitely do. If doing it is jeopardising your other subjects, it's probably better to drop it so you can put your energy into the other subjects you like and get better grades.

Hi there!

Dropping an A-Level after AS might be a good option. Lot's of universities generally require 3 A-Levels, although it is worth checking with the course. A fourth A-level can open up more career pathways but if you are already set (at least somewhat) on what you want to do, dropping A-Level English literature may be a good idea. I did A-level English lit, Biology and Chemistry and went on to study Medical Biology at Undergrad and Pharmaceutical Science at masters level. English lit was quite a long course with lots of essay's, and practice for it was really tedious. If you have the option to drop it - then go for it - it is not worth your mental health.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards, Jenifer (kingston rep)
