Not enough passes

My daughter might not get all the results she needs for her college course. She will get maths and English but needs 3 other passes at 4 and above. What will happen if this is the case? Will college still let her onto the course as she can’t repeat a school year as her mental health won’t take the hit

Unfortunately they are unlikely to let her on unless you can explain the extenuating circumstances and they accept them. At this point I’d focus on giving her as much support as possible to pass her other GCSEs. Maybe contact her teachers so they could give her some more help outside of lessons.

I think it’s more a case of that there’s only info about what happens next if they don’t get passes in English and maths and not enough about the other stuff. We just need to have a back up plan

Ask the college. It could be that they won't accept her onto a Level 3 course but will accept her onto a Level 2 course (if they run one in the subject she wants to do). If not, it might be worth trying a different college.

If there are mental health issues affecting her studies now and that's why you are concerned that she won't achieve the grades needed, then it would be a good idea to get those issues documented soon (before she sits the exams and gets the results)

It's great that Maths and English are the ones you are confident about.
